O2 Selects SoftAtHome’s Wifi’ON Product in the Czech Republic to Offer Wi-Fi 6 for Optimum Networking Around the Home
PARIS, France – October 13th, 2021 – SoftAtHome, an independent software company for broadband, video, and analytics, is powering the new O2 Smart Box launched by the Czech operator in May. O2 has chosen to rely again on SoftAtHome’s Digital Home expertise after the previous O2 Smart Box in 2017 and the Wireless Smart Booster in 2019.
The new O2 Smart Box combines the features of a powerful gateway with guaranteed QoS, a Wi-Fi router, and a smart home hub. Its design is customisable by the owner, thanks to design prints on its sides and a selection of front display clock faces.
Moreover, SoftAtHome has integrated Wi-Fi 6 technology into the new O2 Smart Box, enabling clients to enjoy Wi-Fi and TV everywhere in their homes without saturating the network. SoftAtHome’s Wifi’ON provides an intelligent Wi-Fi network and improves in-home connectivity through better Wi-Fi coverage, better channel selection, increased performance through smart Wi-Fi steering and Wi-Fi 6 delivery, even in densely populated areas.
Thanks to Wifi’ON, the O2 Smart Box Wi-Fi scans for devices in the home and continuously optimises the wireless signal and coverage depending on prevailing conditions. Thus, the new O2 Smart Box can connect up to 10 times as many devices while improving their power efficiency. Wi-Fi 6 provides 160MHz capabilities, twice the frequency band used with Wi-Fi 5. It complements the Smart Home IoT features delivered by Things’ON.”
