Orange France Launches New Wi-Fi 6 Repeater Powered by SoftAtHome

With their new Wi-Fi 6 repeaters, Orange France’s clients enjoy the best Wi-Fi everywhere in their home thanks to SoftAtHome’s Wifi’ON product.

PARIS, France – 15 April 2021 – SoftAtHome, an independent software company for broadband, video, and analytics, is proud to have played an active role in Orange France’s successful Wi-Fi 6 repeater launch.

The new Wi-Fi 6 repeater, available at Orange shops in France starting April 8th, is backwards compatible with the two latest generations of Livebox. With it, Orange subscribers can easily extend their Wi-Fi coverage with a more intelligent Wi-Fi network in their homes, even in dense areas. Wi-Fi 6 provides 160MHz capabilities, offering up to twice the band used with Wi-Fi 5.

Wifi’ON provides a complete smart Wi-Fi network improving in-home connectivity through better coverage using smart extenders, better channel selection, increased performance through steering and Wi-Fi 6 delivery. Following the Wi-Fi Alliance’s Multi AP recommendations, Wifi’ON guarantees full interoperability between different brands and generations of chipset for the Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 standards.

Thanks to Wifi’ON, Orange’s clients equipped with the Wi-Fi 5 Livebox can benefit from Wi-Fi 6 in the whole home network by simply connecting their repeater behind the Livebox. All Wi-Fi configurations will then be applied to the extended Smart Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi 6 is then delivered from one or several repeaters. Wi-Fi 6 repeaters can as well be combined with existing Wi-Fi 5 repeaters to provide a ubiquitous smart network.

Laurent Feurer Orange France’s Broadband Device and Services Marketing Director said, “With our new repeater, our installed base of many millions of households is effortlessly upgradeable to Wi-Fi 6. Thanks to SoftAtHome’s smart Wifi’ON technology, the device seamlessly extends the wireless network either using an ethernet cable or the Wi-Fi itself with very simple self-installation.”

“During Covid lockdowns, end-users spend more time at home, and a better Quality of Service is needed for gaming, working and TV services,” said David Viret-Lange, CEO of SoftAtHome. “Wifi’ON provides a distributed intelligent network between the Livebox, repeaters, STBs that leverages the latest device features while remaining backwards compatible with older devices”.
