Quantenna and SoftAtHome Deliver Turnkey 802.11ax Solutions for Service Providers

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – September 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Quantenna Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: QTNA), the innovator and global leader of high-performance Wi-Fi solutions, and SoftAtHome, the technology company dedicated to the digital home, are joining forces to accelerate availability of Wi-Fi solutions based on the latest draft of IEEE 802.11ax standard. Through their collaboration, Quantenna and SoftAtHome have solved the challenges of hardware and software integration in order to deliver turnkey solutions to service providers, enabling them to rapidly transition to 802.11ax. This collaboration is targeting both high-performance applications based on the 12-stream QSR10GU-AX PLUS, and mainstream applications based on the 9-stream QSR5GU-AX PLUS. Both solutions are currently being actively promoted to the market.

Within the end-user’s home, broadband entertainment, TV services, Internet access and IoT now affect service providers’ NPS scores. Customers expect consistent and secured wireless connectivity that can only be achieved through an operator-managed solution. Wifi’ON delivers the best end-to-end Wi-Fi experience from any corner of the home thanks to key features enabled in the Home Gateway and in operators’ managed devices such as Set-Top Boxes, Wi-Fi extenders or Wi-Fi repeaters. Wifi’ON provides Smart Wi-Fi connections thanks to an intelligent channel selection algorithm and instant steering mechanisms. SoftAtHome Wifi’ON is smart enough to prioritize time-critical traffic such as voice, video or gaming.

Quantenna’s unique 11ax portfolio consists of:

QSR10GU-AX PLUS: targeting high-performance, with the industry’s most advanced features:

Support for 8×8 MIMO at 5GHz, that provides the highest level of performance, both in terms of throughput and capacity
Multi-User MIMO, enabling simultaneous transmission to multiple high-throughput clients
Adaptive MIMO, to dynamically switch from 8×8 MIMO to dual 4×4 MIMO depending on channel conditions, and provide the best possible MIMO configuration
ESP algorithm to enhance the beamforming and MU-MIMO performance to legacy devices

QSR5GU-AX PLUS: targeting mainstream applications, with innovative features such as:

Support for 5×5 MIMO in the 5GHz band. The addition of a fifth chain allows up to 50% more speed, especially in MU-MIMO operation
Background scanning: 5×5 allows background 5GHz scanning by not interrupting existing data transmissions, leading to improved network capacity
Always-on DFS: This algorithm intelligently selects and operates in the cleanest DFS channel including the weather radar channels

“Meeting the requirements of the latest IEEE 802.11ax standard required a deep technical engagement between Quantenna’s software and hardware teams and SoftAtHome,” said James Chen, vice president of product line management. “In working together, we deliver a solution that extends Wi-Fi reach with highest performance, enabling service providers with turnkey solutions that enhance Wi-Fi experience with blazing fast performance at scale.”

Lionel Gremeau, product marketing management director at SoftAtHome added, “Wi-Fi quality and connectivity have become central to enjoying any digital service at home and end-users expect operators to deliver the best Wi-Fi quality. The combination of new 802.11ax Quantenna platforms with our Wifi’ON software solution will help operators in their essential mission to deliver the best end-to-end in-home Wi-Fi experience from any corner of the home.”
