SoftAtHome Receives First Ever Broadband Forum G-PON Certification (BBF.247) for an Independent Software Vendor

With continuous innovation in the G-PON technology,

SoftAtHome proves itself a major Fiber player.

Broadband World Forum, Berlin – October 25th, 2017 – SoftAtHome, the software provider for operator CPE devices enabling convergent services for the digital home, announced today its software stack has successfully completed the BBF.247 certification programme. This certification coincides with the deployment of SoftAtHome’s G-PON Home Gateway with major European operators.

Two years ago already SoftAtHome innovated with its Small Form factor Pluggable (SFP) G-PON solution. The software company has now gone further, developing a new software stack for the G-PON-based Home Gateway.

The fact that an independent software provider is G-PON certified brings true independency back to the operator who can now freely select gateway and network suppliers. This will help network operators to massively accelerate Fiber network rollout as superfast broadband becomes the norm.

The certification program, known as BBF.247, is open to GPON Optical Network Unit

(ONU) products with Ethernet interfaces and is based on the Broadband Forum’s OD-247 test plan. It brings conformance to the Broadband Forum’s TR-156 technical paper and the ITU’s G.998 recommendation, which are the critical to interoperable implementations.
