Broadband World Forum 2016: SoftAtHome Contributes to Open Source with its TR-069 Stack for Carrier-Grade Gateways

London, UK – October 11th, 2016 – SoftAtHome, a software provider for operator CPE devices enabling convergent services for the digital home, and a member of the prpl Foundation, contributes to improve operators’ remote device management solution.

SoftAtHome renews its commitment to open source by bringing the source-code of its TR-069 stack for home gateways to the popular OpenWrt ecosystem that offers a flexible and well maintained Linux distribution for routers. With TR-069, operators can keep their installed base up-to-date, manage devices in a cost-efficient way, while avoiding vendor lock-in. TR-069 enables a shorter time-to-market both for new devices and new software running on legacy devices. TR-069 can also provide a standardized way to obtain operational metrics that can be used by leading analytics solutions.

By contributing to open source, SoftAtHome increases standardization and fosters innovation in Operator services to help carriers in their software-driven businesses, enhancing their relationship with their supplier ecosystem and thus their agility.

The prpl Foundation is an open-source, community-driven, collaborative, non-profit foundation with a focus on enabling next-generation datacenter-to-device portable software and virtualized architectures. Initial domains targeted by prpl include data center, networking and storage, connected consumer and embedded/IoT. Prpl aims to help OpenWrt to move towards a carrier-grade solution.
