Swisscom and SoftAtHome awarded by Global Telecoms Business for Swisscom’s Internet-Box

Global Telecoms Business Innovation Summit, London, UK – May 13, 2015– Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecoms provider and SoftAtHome, a provider of home operating platforms enabling convergent services for the digital home, are proud to announce that Swisscom’s Internet-Box has won this year’s GTB Innovation Award for “Fixed network infrastructure innovation”.

Swisscom was the first telecom operator to propose Fiber-to-the-home benefits and ultra high speed to its customers. The Swisscom Internet-Box offers its users speeds up to1Gbps as well as unique new features. Its core is powered by SoftAtHome, this Gateway delivers a number of functions that change the way customers use their broadband connection. SoftAtHome’s software modular architecture and associated SDK, allow third parties to add application and other features, thus making the device future-proof. For instance, applications developed on the Internet-Box include SpeedTest, to measure WAN and LAN network speeds, or a secure NAS mediacenter.

In order to be ready for Home Automation services, the Swisscom Internet-Box offers DECT-ULE support.

The Internet-Box is the result of a successful collaboration between Swisscom, Vestiacom the applications developer, Askey/Siligence the hardware manufacturer and SoftAtHome, the software developer, vendor and integrator.

The GTB Innovation Awards celebrate excellence in telecom innovation around the globe. This event is recognized within the industry and took place on Wednesday 13 May 2015 at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, Piccadilly, London.
