SoftAtHome And Zappware Strengthen Their Partnership To Deliver End-to-End Hybrid IP/Cable Solution At IBC2014
Amsterdam – 14 September 2014, SoftAtHome (4.A51), provider of home operating platforms enabling convergent services for the Digital Home and end-to-end DVB/IPTV/OTT platform provider Zappware (1.A81), announced today the intensification of their partnership. The hybrid end-to-end cable platform they both deliver through their partnership allows viewers to zap between cable and OTT content and will be deployed across a Tier-one cable network in Europe in the coming months. The HEVC enabled platform for cable TV operators was first released at IBC last year.
The solution has the most advanced end-to-end unified cable solution and features SoftAtHome’s Universal Player, which enables viewers to zap seamlessly between cable (DVB-C) channels and OTT content (HLS, DASH, Smooth Streaming) including HEVC.
SoftAtHome’s SOP7 set-top-box and home-gateway software has been integrated with the Zappware platform to produce a hybrid IP/Cable DOCSIS 3 compliant HTML5 solution on the STB side. This enables advanced features such as decoding Ultra HD 4k content, recording via up to 8 parallel tuners or building video libraries with PodcasTV™. It also supports the latest UI concepts including smooth animation and remote control from connected devices.
Through the integration with the Zappware platform, cable operators now have access to an advanced end-to-end hybrid cable/OTT solution that allows them to enrich their cable STB service with multiscreen services while optimally combining broadcast (DVB) and broadband (OTT) technologies to efficiently deliver content to subscribers both on and beyond their network.
SoftAtHome and Zappware’s partnership aims to tackle the challenges of migration for cable operators into the competitive IP multiscreen world.
