Ikanos and SoftAtHome Collaborate to Help Service Providers Reduce Costs and Accelerate Time to Market of Advanced Digital Home Gateways.
Integrated Solution to be Demonstrated at Broadband World Forum in Paris, October 26-28
FREMONT, Calif. and PARIS, October 25, 2010 — Ikanos Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: IKAN), a leading provider of advanced broadband semiconductor and software products for the digital home, and SoftAtHome, a software provider of home operating platforms that help service providers deliver convergent applications to the digital home, today announced that they have collaborated to create an integrated platform for home gateways, which accelerates time to market for advanced triple play and digital home services. As a result of this collaboration, service providers globally can quickly and efficiently deliver next-generation services and deploy them across different devices in the home.
The integrated platform combines the SoftAtHome Operating Platform (SOP) and Ikanos’ Fusiv® communications processors, making it possible for service providers to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy innovative and convergent applications for the digital home. Key features of the integrated platform include advanced voice services; digital living network alliance (DLNA)- media server capabilities that enable consumers to use, share and enjoy their digital photos, music and videos; green services; network attached storage (NAS) functions; IPTV and Web services support for convergent applications. In addition, the platform supports third-party developed software solutions, such as Wi-Fi scheduling, parental control or remote personal video recorder scheduling.
Together, the two companies have created a customized software interface that leverages the advanced features of Ikanos’ Fusiv communications processors and SoftAtHome’s market-leading operating platform. The SoftAtHome Operating Platform is an open, ubiquitous and carrier-class software platform that combines services such as voice, video, content sharing, user interfaces, security, network access or management. It leverages key features of Ikanos’ high-performance Fusiv communications processors, including advanced processing power, wire speed performance, digital signal processor (DSP)-based VoIP capabilities, security and best-in-class quality of service (QoS). Additionally, Fusiv communications processors’ advanced xDSL interface supports multi-mode A/VDSL capability, which reduces the cost and complexity of supporting hybrid ADSL and VDSL networks for service providers worldwide.
